Herts Police officers ambushed a suspected burglar at his home when he returned in what is believed to be a stolen car.
Three Rivers Scorpion offices went to an address in Home Way, Mill End, on Tuesday (May 14) after getting “fast time intelligence” that the man was residing there.
Upon arrival the property was empty, but it soon became clear the suspect was on his way home.
Officers “poised themselves and a short time later surprised the suspect”, according to a Herts Police social media post, before arresting him.
Paul Wooster, 37, of Home Way, was charged with commercial burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence. He is also accused of having no insurance, failing to provide a sample for analysis, and driving with an obscured number plate.
Herts Police said he has been remanded into custody before a trial later this month.
Operation Scorpion is a proactive police unit with largely plain-clothed officers, which targets burglars, robbers and those involved with drug and vehicle crime.
