Two Watford celebrities have been named among the wealthiest people in the UK, according to a new rich list.
Former Watford FC chairman and pop icon Sir Elton John, 77, has made the Sunday Times Rich List 2024 again as his fortune rose £20 million in the last year, now placing him 291st with an estimated £470 million net worth.
The newspaper quipped: “The Your Song singer may have retired from touring after five decades but there’s no sign of the sun going down on his fortunes.”

Watford-born boxer Anthony Joshua, 34, was also named one of the 40 richest people under the age of 40 by the Sunday Times.
Although his fortune has grown from £150 million to £175 million in the last 12 months, he has slipped down to 17th place from 13th last year.
The former world heavyweight champion is “punching his way into the property world”, according to the newspaper, as he has bought property in Mayfair and Bond Street, and dropped £30 million on BP’s former HQ at Breakspear Park, Hemel Hempstead.
Overall, Indian-born billionaire Gopi Hinduja and his family have held on to the top spot as their industrial and finance fortune ballooned from £35 billion last year to £37.196 billion.
