These men and women from the Watford area appeared in court over knife charges in April.
With knife-crime a fear for many across the UK, it is worrying to hear when it happens close to home.
The following five cases involving people from Watford, Kings Langley, and Chorleywood were before magistrates in Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, and London last month.
Zara Karimjee
Zara Karimjee appeared in Westminster Magistrates’ Court on April 30 and indicated a guilty plea to possessing a large kitchen knife without good reason in Westminster on March 31, this year.
The 27-year-old also admitted to using threatening, abusive, or insulting words with the intent to provoke fear of unlawful violence on the same day.
Karimjee, of Blacketts Wood Drive, Chorleywood, is next set to appear in the same court on May 28, for sentencing.
Ashleigh Knapp
Ashleigh Knapp, of Ashby Road, Watford, appeared in Hatfield Magistrates’ Court on April 27 and admitted to using threatening, abusive, or insulting words with the intent to provoke fear of unlawful violence towards police, as well as two counts of threatening a person with a knife in Watford.
The knife charges were for two different members of the public in the same road and all three charges are for April 26, this year.
The 32-year-old will appear in St Albans Crown Court on May 24 for sentencing.
Mateusi Miranda
Mateusi Miranda appeared in Hatfield Magistrates’ Court on April 26.
The 29-year-old admitted to stealing a parcel worth £6 in Watford on March 19, but denied having a kitchen knife in public without good reason in Market Street on the same day.
Miranda, of Marlborough Road, Watford, is next set to appear in St Albans Magistrates’ Court on August 20, for the trial to take place.
Tony Moran
Tony Moran, of Beechfield in Kings Langley, appeared in Willesden Magistrates Court on April 15.
He pleaded guilty to driving a Mercedes without a licence or insurance in London on March 28, this year. The 32-year-old was fined £300 and given eight points on his licence.
He did not enter a plea for the final charge of possessing a kitchen knife without good reason in the same road on the same day.
He will appear in Harrow Crown Court on May 13 for a plea and trial preparation hearing for the knife charge.
Kofi Odoi
Kofi Odoi, 18, appeared in Willesden Magistrates’ Court on April 19 after being charged with possessing a folding knife with a locking blade in London on February 15, this year.
Odoi, of Newhouse Crescent, Watford, is next set to appear at the court on May 10, for a mention hearing.
