A memorial will be taken apart for repairs as “significant degradation” puts it at risk.
The Croxley Green War Memorial bears the names of 55 First World War soldiers and 79 soldiers from the Second World War.
After residents noticed the landmark covered up, Croxley Green Parish Council explained it was in need of repairs.

It said: “The decision to undertake these repairs comes as a result of significant degradation of the concrete bonding previously used to hold the memorial stones together, posing a potential risk of structural failure.
“Over time, the weathering effects and natural wear and tear have taken their toll on the integrity of the stone, threatening its stability and longevity.”
Deteriorated concrete bonding will be removed and replaced with a safe chemical glue which will “withstand the test of time”, the council said, having allocated £1,500 towards the work.
“This will not only restore the structural stability of the memorial but also safeguard it against future deterioration.”
The Korean War memorial plaque will also be renovated as part of the project, led by military grave restorer Steve Davies.
Due to weather conditions, no set completion date has been given but it will apparently be back to its best in time for the 80th anniversary of D-Day on June 6.
