A 42-year-old man is in court after allegedly stealing a rental car in Watford worth £30,000.
Pietro Aru, of Rickmansworth Road, Watford, appeared at St Albans Magistrates' Court yesterday, April 22, charged with the theft of a motor vehicle.
Aru is accused of stealing a Volkswagen Golf from the Europcar branch at 247 Lower High Street on November 24, 2023.
The case was adjourned for him to enter a plea at St Albans Magistrates’ Court on August 19 and he was released on unconditional bail.

Carl Asbjornsen, of Sheepcot Drive in Watford, appeared at Willesden Magistrates' Court on April 15 charged with taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent (TWOC), going equipped for theft and possessing a Class B drug.
The 40-year-old pleaded guilty to possessing amphetamine in Harrow on March 26, 2023, and taking an e-bike without consent in Edgware the next day.
However, Asbjornsen denied going equipped for theft after he was found carrying bolt cutters on his person in Islington on February 29 this year.
The trial has been set for Willesden Magistrates' Court on June 3 and he will be sentenced for the drugs and TWOC charges afterwards.
