There is a corner shop in West Watford that has been involved in the same business for more than a century.
The Watford Observer is delighted to share pictures from the archive at Watford Museum and this week we look back at this view at the corner of Kings Avenue and Queens Avenue.
The museum’s volunteer archivist Christine Orchard said: “It appears you've been able to buy groceries from a shop at the corner of Kings Avenue and Queens Avenue for at least 115 years.
- Rare snaps unearthed of when The Who rocked Watford
- The former pub located opposite a train station
- A street view that has hardly changed
“In 1909, the shop (and post office) was run by E Pratt, whose name is above the door in this image.
“We don't have a firm date for this picture, but it cannot be before 1907 as a Kelly's street directory shows that only the odd-numbered houses in Kings Avenue had been built.”
