A Watford man has been ordered to pay over £1,000 for riding a moped without insurance.
Hector Mazala Morais Pereira, of 117 Courtlands Close, was caught driving his blue Piaggio bike without any coverage on the M1 in Barnet on February 7 last year.
The 36-year-old appeared at Lavender Hill Magistrates' Court on March 27 where he was ordered to pay a total of £1,034, of which £660 was a fine, a £264 victim surcharge and £110 in court costs.
Pereira was disqualified by the court from holding a driving licence for six months due to his “repeat offending”.

A Watford man will appear in court tomorrow, April 5, accused of being behind the wheel whilst on drugs and without a licence.
Anthony Smith, of Schreiber Grange, was caught driving a red Ford Puma under the influence in Stratford Road, Watford on November 11, 2023, while he did not have a licence or insurance.
The 36-year-old is also accused of failing to stop when required to by a traffic cop in Upton Way on the same day.
Update: Smith pleaded not guilty and the trial start at St Albans Magistrates' Court on August 20.
