It has been more than two months since Pryzm closed its doors for the final time, ending a chapter in Watford’s history dating back almost 60 years.
The venue at 127 The Parade started life as Top Rank Watford Suite in April 1965 and soon established itself as the premier nightspot in the town.
The club underwent various names changes and refurbishments over the years, but whether it was as Bailey’s, Paradise Lost, Kudos, Destiny, Oceana or Pryzm, it continued to attract those looking for a night out from Watford and further afield until its doors shut after hosting a New Year’s Eve party.

These pictures from our archive were taken by a Watford Observer photographer in August 1969 at a social event taking place at the club.
Take a look through them and see if you recognise anyone dressed to impress as they enjoyed a dance and a drink.
