The Sunday Times has featured a “reminder of the virtues of a traditional historic commuter town” near Watford in its "best places to live” feature.
The newspaper unveiled its Best Places to Live guide for 2024 and declared the winners for each region of the country this morning (March 15).
While Folkestone, Kent, took home the crown for the south east of England and North Berwick, East Lothian, was named the overall number one for the UK - one village near Watford made the guide.

Chorleywood was found to be one of the regions ten best locations based on factors including schools, transport, broadband speeds, culture, green spaces, and the high street.
In its description, The Sunday Times said: “Chorleywood is a reminder of the virtues of a traditional historic commuter town.
“There are local schools and local shops, as well as a surprising number of local sports clubs and community groups.
“The grand open space of the Common - perfect for golf, dog walks and picturesque village cricket - ensures that downtime isn’t a let-down.”
There were a total of 72 locations across the UK included in the guide, including St Albans as a fellow Hertfordshire entry.
All the locations were visited by the paper’s panel of judges.
