South West Hertfordshire has elected Alex Sufit as Labour's Parliamentary candidate.
With a diverse background, spanning business, creative industries, and the public sector, she was elected on Tuesday.
Her professional history includes work in three central government departments and the Social Mobility Commission, where she addressed the 'class pay gap'.
Currently, she lends her expertise to companies, advising them on integrating social value into their business models.
Speaking after her selection, Alex Sufit said: "I entered politics because I want to play my part in shaping a fairer Britain that we can all be proud of.
"I will do everything in my power to ensure hard work is rewarded and people get access to the opportunities they deserve.
"I want to renew people’s sense of pride in their local community, and the opportunities afforded there - that pride is the glue that binds us.
"We deserve better – decent local jobs, quality affordable housing, and protection for the most vulnerable in our society.
"So that everyone has a chance to build a bright future for themselves and their family across South West Hertfordshire."
The seat forms a thin strip along the south-west border of Hertfordshire including South Oxhey, Chorleywood, Croxley Green and other areas outside of Watford.
