A “mystery man” from Hertfordshire has been confirmed as a £1,000,000 winner.
The National Lottery has not offered much information about the anonymous millionaire after announcing the result yesterday (March 11).
The man “known only as Mr. M from Hertfordshire” scooped the prize in the EuroMillions UK Millionaire Maker draw on January 19.
Senior winners’ advisor at The National Lottery Andy Carter said, “Wow this is really great news for Mr. M, who can now celebrate becoming a millionaire overnight after winning this incredible prize.
“Huge congratulations.”
National Lottery operators Allwyn explained that winners are given the opportunity to release their name, remain anonymous or, (like Mr. M) release some details through “partial publicity”.
Allwyn took control of the National Lottery from Camelot on February 1 after the UK Gambling Commission officially awarded it the licence.
It marked the first time the game has changed hands since it launched almost 30 years ago.
