A section of one of the area’s busiest roads is set to be shut for roadworks while a supermarket has applied for permission to extend its alcohol licence.
Notices published in the Public Notice Portal also detail the intention to shut roads several roads in Watford to allow works to be carried out.
The portal is used to access all of the upcoming and recent information about various restrictions and notices.

Here are four notices we’ve rounded up which could affect residents across our area:
St Albans Road – temporary closure
Herts County Council is intending to make an order to prevent vehicles from using a section of the A412 St Albans Road to allow works to be carried out.
The order would shut the road from its junction with Leavesden Road north eastwards to its junction with Balmoral Road, a distance of approximately 563m.
An alternative route will be via A412 St Albans Road, A411 Beechen Grove, A4008 Stephenson Way, A41 (North Western Avenue Colne Way/North Western Avenue) and A412 Albans Road or via A412 St Albans Road, A41 North Western Avenue, A411 (Hempstead Road/Hyde Road/The Avenue) and A412 St Albans Road.
The order is due to come into force on March 18 and be valid for up to 18 months but the restrictions will only at times indicated on signs at or near the relevant locations.
Rickmansworth supermarket – alcohol licence
The proprietor of a supermarket in Rickmansworth has applied for permission to makes changes to the alcohol licence for the business.
Vinoshan Vijarathnam has applied to the licensing authority at Three Rivers District Council to amend the premises licence for Sparks Supermarket, 68 Church Lane, Mill End, Rickmansworth WD3 8HE.
The proposed changes involve amending “the hours of opening and of the (off) sale by retail of alcohol” from 8am to 11pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am to 10.30pm Sunday, to 6am to 11am Monday to Saturday, and 7am to 11pm Sunday.

Various roads in Watford – temporary closure
Herts County Council is intending to make an order to prevent all vehicles from using the following lengths of roads to allow works to take place.
This order is due to come into force on March 18, 2024 and be valid for up to 18 months but the restrictions will only apply at times shown on signs at or near the relevant locations.
- Valley Rise from its junction with Sheepcot Lane north eastwards and south eastwards for its entire length.
- Hazel Tree Road from its junction with Beechwood Rise north eastwards to its junction with Leggatts Wood Avenue, a distance of approximately 236m.
- Albert Road North from its junction with King Street south eastwards to its junction with Monmouth Road, a distance of approximately 115m.
- Bellmount Wood Avenue from its junction with Cassiobury Drive south westwards, southwards and south eastwards to its junction with Langley Way, a distance of approximately 428m.
- Berceau Walk from its junction with Langley Way south eastwards for its entire length.
- Bucks Avenue from its junction with A4008 Pinner Road south eastwards to its junction with Sherwoods Avenue, a distance of approximately 246m.
- Cedar Road from its junction with Oxhey Road north eastwards to its junction with Kingsfield Road, a distance of approximately 430m.
- Granville Road from its junction with King Street south eastwards to its junction with The Crescent, a distance of approximately 150m.
- Milton Street from its junction with Parker Street north westwards to its junction with Shakespeare Street, a distance of approximately 210m.
- Sherwoods Road from its junction with A4008 Pinner Road north eastwards to its junction with Bucks Avenue, a distance of approximately 257m.
- Smith Street from its junction with King Street south westwards to its junction with The Crescent, a distance of approximately 120m.
- Strangeways from its junction with Courtlands Drive westwards, northwards and north eastwards for its entire length.
- The Crescent from its junction with Smith Street south westwards, north eastwards and south eastwards for its entire length.
- Richmond Drive from its junction with Langley Way south eastwards and south westwards to its junction with Parkside Drive, a distance of approximately 346m.
Estate of Brenda Cook
Anyone having a claim against or an interest in the estate of Brenda Cook, late of Brunswick Court Care Home, 62 Stratford Road, Watford WD17 4JB – and previously of 73 Baldwins Lane, Rickmansworth WD3 3LT – who died on September 21, 2022 is asked to send their details in writing to Graham Evans & Partners Solicitors, Moorgate House, 6 Christina Street, Swansea SA1 4EW.
This should be done by May 2, 2024.
