Two men have been jailed over bike thefts in Watford town centre.
Angelo Wright, of Garsmouth Way in the Meriden, was sentenced to 10 months at Hatfield Magistrates’ Court on February 28 over two incidents, just months after he was handed a suspended sentence for a previous bike theft.
The 41-year-old was charged over two thefts in December 2023 and released on bail, but became a wanted man when he failed to attend two bail appointments.
After his arrest in the town centre, Wright pleaded guilty to both counts, failing to answer bail and breaching the three-month suspended sentence he was given on August 7, 2023, for bike theft and going equipped for theft.

Haben Ghebreamlak, of no fixed address, was also jailed for 10 weeks at Hatfield Remand Court today (March 5) after he was caught riding a stolen bike on March 3.
Police said the bicycle was reported as stolen overnight, but officers spotted the 34-year-old the next day riding a new bike.
Bolt cutters were recovered during the stop and search and the bike was returned to its owner.
Ghebreamlak’s Community Protection Warning has been increased to a more serious Community Protection Notice (CPN), which will see him arrested if he breaches the terms again.
