Several cars were left stranded after the River Colne burst its banks near Watford town centre.
Motorists were warned to avoid the appropriately named Water Lane on Saturday, March 2, following a deluge in the road.
A video taken on Sunday morning shows two cars and one van stranded in deep water as a recovery truck attends the scene.
The parents of Lisa Abbotts, 39, were staying at the Watford Central Premier Inn in Water Lane and were blocked when they attempted to drive back to Norfolk at 7am.

She said it took them five hours to leave and they had to resort to paying for a recovery truck to carry the car to dry land.
A Premier Inn employee confirmed that guests’ cars had been stuck in the car park until the water receded and it had offered to move guests to another branch if they wanted.
Several incidents were reported across the county at the weekend, including a flood in Kings Langley affecting three homes which Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service attended.
