New research from the Born Free Foundation has revealed that dwarf crocodiles are among the 43 dangerous animals living in Watford.
The charity revealed that the 126 animals across the entire county were owned by a range of private owners.
According to Born Free’s 2023 survey, more than 2,700 dangerous wild animals are licensed to be kept privately in Great Britain at a total of 187 private addresses across 126 local authorities - and there may be many more kept without a licence.
Dwarf crocodiles and dingos were among the animals living in Watford, while in nearby Dacorum, there are a number of snakes, including multiple species of cobras and vipers.
The map created by the charity is broken down into to local authorities with North Hertfordshire taking the crown for most dangerous animals.
