He may have been part of one of the biggest groups in the world and had just enjoyed his first UK No. 1, but that didn’t stop Andrew Ridgeley from returning home to join his Dad at a photographic exhibition in June 1984.
Wham! had just topped the charts for a second week with Wake Me Up Before You Go Go when a Watford Observer photographer snapped the former Bushey Meads School pupil with his father, Albert, and other guests at the exhibition at the Bushey & Watford Picture Shop, in Bushey High Street.
The exhibition showcased pictures taken by Albert who, along with his wife Jenny, were highly respected members of the Bushey community.
The couple spoke to the Watford Observer in October 1998 having decided to leave the town after 32 years to move to Cornwall to be closer to their son.

Albert had performed a number of voluntary roles in Bushey, including being a part-time ambulance driver and a photographer for the Bushey Festival, while his wife was a former teacher and governor at Bushey Heath JMI School and a founder member of Bushey and District Decorative Fine Art Society.
