Home Bargains has reiterated its desire to come to Watford - but again said it will only happen "once the right opportunity is available".
The discount retailer has repeatedly topped locals’ wish list as the most-desired business to come to the town.
It previously told residents to "watch this space" regarding a potential store but notable developments have yet to materialise.
Having been approached this week by the Watford Observer, a Home Bargains spokesperson said: "Our position on opening a store in Watford remains the same - we are keen to open a store once the right opportunity is available to us."
Watford residents may be disappointed with the update after an overwhelming majority called for the store to open in the town.
Since 2022, Home Bargains has suggested they are looking into opening a Watford branch with the proposal sparking excitement and speculation among eager residents on social media.
Despite multiple suggestions for potential sites, including the former John Lewis unit which has since been taken up by several businesses, progress has seemingly stalled.
Atria Watford was previously asked whether it is actively trying to add Home Bargains to its offering, but a spokesperson said: "We don’t ever comment on speculation regarding potential new tenants."
However, today four new stores were confirmed to be opening in the shopping centre's former John Lewis unit.
B&M, Choice Discount, Peacocks, and Bonmarché are the latest additions set to open later this year, following Dunelm and Poundland in late 2023.
