Held in a 1950's themed café, with the jukebox playing, care home staff and residents in Watford had the chance to meet Watford MP Dean Russell.
He visited Courtland Lodge Care home, which is part of the not-for-profit Community Benefit Society Quantum Care, to discuss challenges in social care with staff and meet residents.
Caring for up to 60 older people, the home is based in Courtlands Close, Watford.
Speaking after his visit on January 29, he said: "My visit to Courtland Lodge Care Home has been really valuable. Speaking directly with both staff and representatives has provided me with insights into the daily challenges and successes within the care sector.
"The warmth and dedication of the staff was apparent, and residents spoke highly of the team.”
During the visit, the Tory MP joined residents for refreshments served by staff in the café that is decorated with vinyl records, guitars and photographs of music stars from the '50s.
Wanda Spooner, director of human resources for Quantum Care, added: "We were delighted to welcome Dean to the home. As a not for profit community benefit society, we welcomed the opportunity to discuss our experience in the current social care climate.
"Being able to speak to our MP in this way highlights the importance of collaboration between policymakers and care providers in the development of future provision and quality of care services”.
