Watford is set to be battered by heavy rain this week after the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning.
Flooding of homes and businesses will be possible, the forecaster says, with the warning covering the region between 2am on Thursday and 6am the following day.
A message on its website reads: “Periods of heavy rain will bring the possibility of some disruption, particularly to transport.
“Flooding of a few homes and businesses is possible. Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer.”
The Met Office said “a couple of bands of rain, heavy in places” will push northwards across southern England during Thursday and early Friday.
“Whilst a drier interlude is likely for a time during the middle part of Thursday, many places in the warning area will see 15-25mm of rain accumulate during this period.

“However, some higher ground areas of southern England and south Wales could see as much as 35-45mm of rain.”
Residents have been warned to check if their properties could be at risk of flooding and, if so, consider preparing an emergency flood kit.
The Met Office also urged people to check road conditions before driving and amend travel plans if necessary.
