Drivers parking dangerously outside Meriden shops were slammed in Parliament yesterday.
Illegal parking outside the York Way parade of shops has long plagued the area and been blasted by local, but the issue has now been aired in the House of Commons.
The hazardous practice sees cars left on the pavement, which also forces motorists to cross the central demarcation to get past while between two corners with limited visibility.

Today, I raised with @PennyMordaunt the dangerous and illegal parking outside the Meriden parade of shops. Residents are justifiably concerned about this, and I wanted to remind drivers that they are putting additional pressures on an already busy area. pic.twitter.com/sEZ9xyh3fW

Watford MP Dean Russell told Penny Mordaunt that he had already been in regular communication about the “dangerous and illegal parking” with the relevant authorities and work is being done, but also asked how he can press for “further urgency”.
The Conservative MP also asked her to join him in reminding drivers that they are “really putting people’s lives at risk in York Way”.
The Leader of the House of Commons responded by highlighting that illegal parking is classified as antisocial behaviour and can have “really devastating consequences”. She added that she will make sure the secretary of state for transport and the home secretary hear his concerns.
