- Police have described the crash which sparked the road closure as 'serious'.
- It occurred at around 4.30am but The Avenue, in Bushey, remained closed until 2.20pm.
- Motorists were advised to avoid the area.
- It is believed that the same man was hit twice, by a grey Volkswagen T-Roc and later a lorry.
- A 25-year-old man from Poole has sustained serious injuries which are not life threatening. He was taken to St Mary's Hospital.
- A 41-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of an accident and for driving without due care or attention.
