Herts Fire and Rescue closed a road into Watford after a car caught light this morning.
The southbound A41 was closed off just before 11am (January 11) after what was initially reported as a “road traffic collision” by Hertfordshire Highways.
However, the fire service has now confirmed that it was called with reports of a car “well alight” near the Kings Langley junction at 10.53am.

A road closure was then put in place, between around Rucklers Lane and the M25, as firefighters put of the blaze and dealt with the vehicle in the road.
Two fire engines from Hemel Hempstead, one from Watford, and another from Garston were called out and they were able to leave the scene by 11.20am.
The road closure was then removed by 12pm.
Hertfordshire Highways advised motorists to “avoid the area” at 11.30am and residents reported heavy traffic nearby, with Kings Langley roads left “really busy”.
