A driver has been taken to hospital after three people were injured in a “horrendous” crash in Stanmore.
Emergency services were called at 10.51am today (January 8) to reports of a two-car crash at the junction of Stanmore Hill and Heathbourne Road, near Bushey.
The Met Police attended along with two ambulances and a medic in a fast-response car from the London Ambulance Service.
Both the Met and LAS were unable to confirm whether anyone was seriously injured, or what vehicles were involved.
Two of three injured people were taken to hospital, according to the LAS, though two were treated for minor injuries at the scene.
Commentators on social media described it as a “horrendous” collision, with a red car reportedly overturned on the edge of the road. Another said it "looked horrific".
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: “Two fire engines and around 10 firefighters responded to a road traffic collision between two cars on Heathbourne Road in Bushey Heath.
“Three people were rescued by firefighters and treated by London Ambulance Service crews. Firefighters then worked to make the scene safe.
“The Brigade was called at 11am and the incident was over for firefighters at 11.27am. Firefighters from Stanmore fire station attended the scene.”
As of 3.30pm, there was still knock-on congestion in the area - particularly around the Heathbourne Road and The Common junction.
