The Met Office has predicted snow for Hertfordshire today - though anyone hoping for snowmen and sledding will likely be disappointed.

The forecaster has said there is a chance of "light snow" around 3pm today (January 8) as temperatures fall for this week's cold snap.

A yellow weather warning for ice has also been issued for the region between 3pm today and 3am tomorrow. Residents are being warned of icy patches on untreated roads and "some injuries from slips and falls on icy or snowy surfaces".

The Met Office has predicted a high of 3C for Watford today and a low of -1C, with an initially cloudy start changing to sleet by lunchtime.

There is a "50 per cent" chance of snow at around 3pm, according to the forecaster, with the rest of the day set to be overcast but dry.

Temperatures for Watford are predicted to remain the same tomorrow, before rising to between 5C and 6C between Wednesday and Saturday.

It follows travel disruption caused by Storm Henk last week, which saw fallen trees and flooding hit the county.
