A Watford train line has been blocked by a fallen tree amid strong winds.
The Abbey Line, between Watford Junction and St Albans Abbey, is blocked this afternoon after National Rail shared that “multiple trees” are blocking various lines across the London Northwestern Railway and West Midlands Railway networks today (December 21).
Abbey Line services have been suspended, with disruption expected until 3.45pm, and rail replacement buses are now operating between Watford Junction and St Albans Abbey.
The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for strong winds in England today and although it only applies north of Birmingham in the west and Cambridge in the east, areas further south are still facing windy conditions.

The route between Watford Junction and St Albans Abbey is one of six lines currently facing disruption due to trees blocking lines. Four of the others are within the weather warning area, but Worcester Shrub Hill to Hereford also falls outside it.
National Rail had previously highlighted that using the Abbey Line was to change at St Albans was a potential way to avoid ongoing disruption between Watford Junction and London Euston.
That disruption was caused by damage to overhead wires near Hemel Hempstead.
