Plans have gone in to remove the ATM and signs from a High Street bank which is due to close.
After NatWest sent a letter to customers confirming that it had taken the “difficult decision” to close the Rickmansworth branch, it has now lodged a planning application to undo its changes to the building.
The bank is due to close from February 29, next year.

- Christmas horse parade route confirmed - see the 13 streets involved
If the plan, submitted yesterday (December 19), is approved, the existing signage and ATM will be removed and the space left will be filled in. The wall would apparently be reinstated to match the original condition.
Internally, all fixtures, fittings, furniture, and equipment related to the bank’s operation would be removed.
Although the proposal to Three Rivers District Council suggests the unit will have a change of use in future, the plan itself does not ask for a change of use.
It follows the Rickmansworth Barclays shutting in 2022, the Santander’s closure 2021, and HSBC also leaving the town in 2017.
After February 29, Rickmansworth customers’ nearest NatWest branch will be the one in Watford town centre.
