A man walks along an otherwise deserted road in the centre of Watford that looks very different today.
The Watford Observer is delighted to share pictures from the archive at Watford Museum and this week we recall how Cassio Road looked at the start of the 1970s.
The museum’s volunteer archivist Christine Orchard said: “Today, the section of Cassio Road leading up to Rickmansworth Road is dual carriageway, but this photo was taken a few years before this dramatic change.
“I believe the entrance on the left led into the sports ground and that disappeared with the widening of the road.
“The road’s route runs along two old field boundaries which is why there used to be a kink in the road. The road itself is just over 125 years old.”
