A proposal to make alterations to a church entrance is among the planning applications submitted to Watford, Three Rivers, Dacorum and Hertsmere councils this week.

St Lawrence Church, in Abbots Langley, has applied to Three Rivers District Council for permission to refurbish its south porch by removing the iron gates and replacing them with glass doors.

A design, access and heritage statement with the application states: "The purpose of the glass doors is to allow the solid internal door of the porch to be left open, allowing a view directly into the church from outside while retaining heat in the winter. This will significantly improve the ability of the church to welcome visitors who are often deterred by a solid door when they are unable to see inside.
