A Bushey road has had its 20mph speed limit officially enforced, 10 years after the signs went up.
Grange Road has not had the limit properly put in place due to an admin error by the council when it was first set to be added in 2012.
Councillor for Bushey North, Laurence Brass, raised the issue with Hertfordshire County Council when he was made aware of police not acknowledging the zone.
The councillor said: "It does not reflect well on the local authorities and residents were very angry as cars were speeding along the road and were confused why nothing was being done about it.
"When I asked police about why nothing was being done they explained that they knew nothing about the area. Due to an administrative error 10 years ago the limit had no Traffic Regulation Order which conferred legal status."

The council has since rectified the issue and carried out the formal legal and consultation process required. The limit came into effect officially on November 13.
Cllr Brass added: "There is now a happy ending as the problem has been fixed and I have spoken to the police about how they will be enforcing the limits."
As well as Grange Road, the zone also includes sections of Highfield Road, Hillside Road, Silverdale Road and Belmont Road.
