There were few bigger shows on TV in 1986 than EastEnders and there were not many bigger plot lines than the fiery relationship between Den and Angie Watts.
The landlady of the Queen Vic was famously played by Anita Dobson and in June of that year she made the short journey from filming in Walford at the BBC’s Elstree Studios to make a guest appearance at a Watford nightclub.
The Watford Observer’s photographic record sadly doesn’t show what the purpose of her visit to Paradise Lost was but it appears to have been some type of judging role from these archive photos.
They also show the actor, who married Queen guitarist Brian May in 2002, offering some comments as a male member of the audience removes his clothing on the dancefloor!
These photos were taken on June 21, 1986 and you may be able to spot yourself if you can remember being in the club on that night.
