Police boxed in a suspected cloned vehicle before making two arrests.
Three Rivers Police officers were on patrol in the Bedmond area on Wednesday evening (October 11) when they spotted the car through their intelligence systems, which was believed to have been a cloned vehicle.
Herts Police confirmed that they “pre-emptively” boxed it in with police cars to prevent it driving off and sparking a pursuit through the village.

The occupants were then detained and searched under section 1 of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act.
Checking the vehicle identification number revealed the car had been stolen from the London area, police said, and both occupants were then arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and drugs offences.
“The investigation continues with our specialist investigation teams,” Herts Police confirmed. The patrol itself was carried out by Operation Scorpion Officers, who usually operate plain-clothed and unmarked.
The force also explained that a cloned vehicle is one that appears to have the identity of another vehicle, due to stolen or cloned plates.
Police added: “Often criminals will then use the cloned vehicle to carry out further crime or avoid speeding or parking fines.”
