Wider pavements and traffic calming measures are proposed as part of a bid to improve a shopping parade.
A survey has been launched over proposed improvements to Whippendell Parade, between Harwoods Road and Durban Road West, particularly focussing on the junctions with Southsea Avenue and Burton Avenue.
The questions ask shoppers whether they feel “safe and comfortable” at the parade and how they would improve it.

Potential improvements residents can give their views on include widening pavements, adding greenery, better quality surface materials, cycle parking, and traffic calming measures to prioritise pedestrians.

It also asks “would you like to see pedestrian-friendly changes introduced, including traffic calming measures and wider pavements?”.
Watford mayor Peter Taylor said: “I’m really pleased we are making these improvements. By adding more greenery and making the area safer for people walking, this will become a more pleasant environment for everyone.”
It is hoped that the measures will improve the look and feel of the parade and thereby support local businesses by attracting more shoppers.
