- The M1 was initially closed northbound between Junction 5 (Watford) and Junction 6 (Bricket Wood) earlier this morning.
- Herts Police confirmed that road closures were expected to remain "for some time" at around 3.45am today (October 12).
- Just before 8pm the force said it had lifted its road closures in the motorway.
- At around 10.45am National Highways confirmed traffic is moving again.
- A man was confirmed dead at the scene and police have appealed for more information on what happened.
- Traffic returned to normal by the afternoon.
