A whopping £10,000 has been raised for Watford charities through the weekly community lottery.
The initiative was set up to offer support to community-led organisations whilst giving residents the chance to win cash prizes.
The draw happens every Saturday, with the opportunity for residents to win money, vouchers, and more tickets, whilst supporting local causes.
Watford mayor Peter Taylor said: “The success of the Watford Community Lottery would not have been possible without the continued support of residents who participate in the weekly draws.
“By purchasing tickets, individuals not only have the chance to win cash prizes but also contribute directly to the betterment of their community.”
Some of the organisations that have been supported are:
- Watford Women's Centre to provide vital assistance to more women.
- Random Cafe rescuing surplus food and reducing food waste in Watford.
- Watford Gymnastics Club offering more classes for children with additional needs and low-income families.
- Pump House Theatre and Arts Centre's Raise the Roof campaign preserving the historic building and enhancing its sustainability.
- Everett Rovers Football Club maintaining and expanding services.
- Friends of Cassiobury Park with preservation of natural beauty and wildlife.
- Affordable swimming for Watford Swimming Club members and residents.
Residents can purchase tickets for the weekly draws at watfordcommunitylottery.co.uk.
