Plans for a 25-metre telecoms tower between the tracks of a local train station have been green-lit.
Yesterday (September 29), Bushey train station was approved as an acceptable site for a 5G mast by Watford Borough Council after a planning application was submitted by Cornerstone, which has a commercial relationship with Vodafone, on August 30.
The mast is set to be taller than many other recent proposals for the area, which have tended to be for 15 or 20-metre poles, and would sit between the TfL and LNWR lines on the station's north side.

Under the conditions of the prior approval given for the development, it must begin within five years of approval being given and must be carried out in accordance with the drawings submitted alongside the plan.
One objection letter was sent in to the council. It raised potential negative health effects and also said an alternative location further away from residential properties should be found instead.
However, the planning officer highlighted that potential health impacts are not considered a material planning consideration and alternative siting options were considered. They added that the alternative locations were even closer to homes.
Meanwhile the officer concluded that it would improve 4G and 5G capacity for the area.
It was therefore recommended approval be given, which was then agreed by the council.
