Plans have been submitted to knock down a detached cottage and build four houses on the site instead.
Developers want to build a gated community of detached two-three-bedroom homes and two-four-bedroom homes where the current Birchville Cottage is in Heathbourne Road, Bushey Heath.
The 2887sqm site is not within a conservation area nor is it within a flood risk.

- £3,000 fine for man following crash that wrote off car
Currently a three-storey detached dwelling is on the site, with several smaller ancillary buildings on the plot.
None of the buildings are listed.
In the proposals, one of the three-bed homes will be over three-storeys and the other will have two floors.
One four-bed house will also be over three-storeys while the final four-bed will be over two floors.
If approved, three of the homes will have terraces on upper floors.
The developer said: “This is to encourage the enjoyment of sitting at treetop level to experience the diverse ecology of the site.”
All the houses will have south facing gardens and two parking spaces each.
The planning application's number is 23/1260/OUT.
