Locals have been warned to avoid a road closure and close windows as firefighters tackle a blaze at an industrial estate.
Herts Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed that a fire at Lismarrane Industrial Park, Elstree Road, Elstree, is the cause of rising smoke that can be seen from the M1 and the Watford bypass.
It was reported at around 7.30am and emergency services are still responding. After six fire engines were initially called, along with an aerial ladder, four more were called out for a total of ten engines at the scene.

A Herts Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: “Smoke is visible for some distance and we are advising local residents to keep windows and doors closed at this time.”

“We are currently assisting at the scene of a fire at the Lismirrane Industrial Park in Elstree,” Herts Police added.
“Road closures have been put in place on Elstree Road as a safety precaution, between the A41 and Aldenham Road.
“Please avoid the area at this time and check the latest before you travel.”
