A man has been sentenced after driving off from the scene of a multi-car crash in Watford.
Nikhil Mandarapu had driven a Mitsubishi in Farthing Close without due care or attention when, according to court documents, “owing to the presence of” his car in the road a Vauxhall, Volkswagen and Mercedes were damaged in an accident.
The 28-year-old then did not stop at the scene, did not give his name and address, and failed to report the accident at a police station an officer “as soon as was reasonably practicable”.

Mandarapu, of Raymond Road, Leicester, was proved guilty of driving without due care and attention, failing to stop, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, and failing to report an accident at Leicester Magistrates’ Court.
He was disqualified from driving for nine months, given a 180-hour unpaid work requirement, and ordered to pay £424 at the court on September 1.
The unpaid work must be completed within 12 months.
