The care home’s dining room was decorated with “happy 103rd birthday” balloons and sparkly party banners.
Lynda was surprised with a homemade birthday cake made by the kitchen team. There were also some cupcakes, sandwiches and a fruit buffet on offer too.
To top off Lynda’s special day, Helen Rice, activity co-ordinator, organised for Lily, a dog who used to visit the residents regularly, to come into the home to see Lynda who is a huge dog-lover.
Commenting on her milestone birthday, Lynda said: “I had a lovely time celebrating my 103rd birthday with my family, fellow residents and of course, Lily. It was very special.”
When asked what her secret to such a long and healthy life was, Lynda commented: “I have two tips - firstly, always surround yourself with good people, and secondly enjoy the occasional glass of wine.”
Lynda was born and raised in Wales and lived with her late husband in Swansea, where they ran a grocery store.
They went on to have two children and two granddaughters.
In 2017, Lynda moved to Brunswick Court to be near her daughter. Lynda enjoys taking part in as many activities as she can and as a music lover, really looks forward to visits from musicians and singers.
Jyoti Tiwari Pokharel, home manager, added: “We are honoured to have been a part of this incredible lady’s 103rd birthday celebrations – what a milestone.
“We always enjoy celebrating our residents’ milestones with them and believe in helping our residents live longer, healthier, and happier lives.
“Lynda is a true testament to that; she is a joy to be around and an inspiration to us all.”
