Plans to knock down a seven-bedroom £2,500,000 mansion for eight flats have been given the green light.
The proposal to demolish Wildacre, a home in a 0.76-acre plot in The Woods between Northwood and South Oxhey, was submitted in June, before being approved by Three Rivers District Council yesterday (August 30).
The council granted permission for the building to be replaced with a “traditional” Arts and Crafts-style building, divided into eight two-bedroom flats, subject to 11 conditions.
- Plan to demolish building and build 29 flats
- Man charged with burglary and vehicle crime
- Aldenham weight restriction flouters targeted in operation
A listing for the existing property, before it was sold, describes it as having “the potential for further development”.
It was sold in August 2022 with the guide price given as £2,500,000. The proposal documents offered examples of comparable flats to those proposed which have been sold for up to £1,550,000 for a single Northwood flat.
Three ground floor flats, three more on the first floor, and two on the roof level were included in the plan with each having two underground parking spots. Two guest parking spaces are also set to be built.
Conditions attached to the approval largely related to further information that would need to be provided prior to either the development commencing or the first occupation of the flats.
