A secondary school is celebrating following the announcement of today’s GCSE results.
Rickmansworth School in Scots Hill, Croxley Green, told the Watford Observer that it had the “best ever examination results,” describing the outcome as “fantastic”.
GCSEs are now marked from a scale of 1-9. In the new scale, papers marked 7 to 9 are considered As with those marked 4 to 6 considered Cs and Bs.
The number 3 largely corresponds to a D with 2 and 1 reserved for Fs and Gs.
A total of 95 per cent of students achieved grade 4 or higher in English and maths.

The school added that 80 per cent of its students attained a grade 5 or higher in English and maths.
Rickmansworth School’s headteacher Matt Fletcher praised the students for their hard work throughout the year.
He said: “All the staff at Rickmansworth School are incredibly proud of our students’ achievements.
“They took full advantage of all the support and facilities on offer at the school and have performed tremendously well.”
The school will be welcoming many of its students back for sixth form in September.
Mr Fletcher added: “Our fantastic sixth form is full again for September 2023 and we wish the very best of luck to those students continuing their post-16 education elsewhere.”
