Armed officers flocked to a residential road following reports a man had been seen with a gun.
Police were called at around 8.25pm to the Woolmerdine Court area of Bushey on Monday, August 21.
Officers and armed officers attended, and a search was carried out with assistance from the National Police Air Service.
A 21-year-old man was then arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and was taken into police custody.
He has now been released on bail while enquiries continue.
No one was hurt during the incident, police said.
Burglar jailed
In a separate incident, a man has been jailed for eight months after pleading guilty to burglary offences in Watford.
George Mitchell, 26, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary and one count of vehicle interference at Hatfield Remand Court on Friday, August 18.
He was also ordered to pay £760 in victim compensation.
The charges relate to offences in July and August this year when he targeted Watford businesses Fratelli’s and Majestic Gentlemen barbers.
