A Watford man was taken to court after being “caught red handed” illegally dumping environmentally hazardous building waste.
Chrystian Junio Assis Riberio admitted to illegal waste dumping in Brawlings Lane, Chalfont St Peter, Buckinghamshire, when he appeared in Hatfield Magistrates’ Court on July 26.
The 23-year-old was arrested on an outstanding warrant for fly-tipping before the court heard how he had illegally dumped “a large load” of building waste which contained environmentally hazardous materials including paint on September 14, 2021.

Riberio, of Sleaford Green, was fined £2,000 and ordered to pay £400 in clean-up and prosecution costs. In total, he had to pay £2,590 including a £190 victim surcharge.
Buckinghamshire councillor Jilly Jordan said: “Fly-tipping is a serious criminal act that causes chronic harm to our environment and communities.
“Buckinghamshire Council has a firm position on fly-tipping - it is against the law, not acceptable, and offenders will face ‘zero tolerance’ consequences.
“This fly-tipper was caught on CCTV, witnessed by a member of the public, and evidence found at the scene also helped identify the offender.
“This case serves as a reminder that Buckinghamshire Council will upturn every stone seeking to detect and apprehend dumping offenders.”
