Motorists face delays with multiple sets of temporary traffic lights within a mile of each other.

Roadworks have begun on Garston Lane, Watford, today and will be in place until Sunday.

They include temporary traffic lights which have been on the road a few days prior to the work starting.

According to Hertfordshire County Council, the work involves an "electric company" making changes or connections to mains.

There are also temporary traffic lights on St Albans Road, in three different places, for three separate roadworks, which is causing disruption for motorists.

Hertfordshire County Council said: “The temporary traffic lights that are currently happening on Garston Lane are due to an electric company working on a new service connection.”

Two of the delays on St Albans Road is due to the refurbishment of traffic lights which have both been going on since July 24 and will be finishing on August 18.

The other works on the road is also due to improvements of traffic lights but is further up St Albans Road, just before Garston Lane and the other set of temporary traffic lights there.

One person on Facebook claimed that it took them 15 minutes to get from the Harvester to Garston shops.

If you are travelling through this area be aware of the delays the maintenance is causing.
