King George V play area in the village of Sarratt is set for a complete overhaul thanks to £170,000 funding by Three Rivers District Council.
Plans would see existing equipment replaced with a modern and safe play area for children to enjoy.
Saratt Parish Council recently requested the funding at the district council’s Policy and Resources Committee.
The money will come from Three Rivers’ Community Infrastructure Levy, which the council use to help implement new developments.
Sarah Dobson, chair of Sarratt Parish Council, said: “This is a hugely exciting project which will be a fantastic local resource for children and parents in Sarratt and to families from across the district who come to Sarratt to use the playing fields and enjoy the other facilities available in the village.
“Once completed we look forward to installing a plaque at the playground to recognise the contribution from TRDC that made this project possible.”

Saratt Parish Council will be putting £14,000 from it’s own Community Infrastructure Levy towards this development as well as applying for additional grant funding from an external organisation.
The council is hoping the work will begin this summer, as the funds are being fast-tracked.
