Permission has been granted for a tyre centre to be turned into one-bed flats.
The former Bushey Tyre Centre, which “has been vacant for a few years and appears to be in a deteriorating condition”, according to Hertsmere Borough Council, is set to become flats.
The building, in Sparrows Herne, already contained five flats as well as the tyre centre but council approval was granted for the ground floor commercial space to also become residential on Wednesday (August 2).

Under the plan, three more one-bedroom homes would be created but it does not include any external alterations to the building.
Any changes to the outside would require new plans.
One neighbour objected to the proposal and highlighted that work was already underway at the building while the plan was being considered.
However, on July 28, a council officer confirmed that the internal works that took place were renovations for the upper floors and didn’t impact the application area.
The Royal Oak pub next-door is also undergoing redevelopment to create flats, starting in October last year, after also becoming vacant.
