A 59-year-old man has been re-bailed after he was arrested on suspicion of grooming.

Herts Police arrested the suspect in April in St Albans after a report came in from members of the public “claiming to be an online child protection group”.

The man was released on conditional bail, which was due to last until this month, and the force have now confirmed he has been re-bailed until October.

The St Albans resident was arrested on suspicion of attempting to meet a female child aged under 16 following grooming and possessing an indecent photograph of a child, on April 14.

Child protection group Intercepting Online Predators live streamed outside St Albans City Station, in Station Way, at around 6.30pm on April 14, with the broadcast being viewed more than 26,000 times.

The livestream showed the group questioning a man while they detained him outside the train station car park before police officers arrived to handcuff him and put him in the back of a police van.

It is thought the man has links to Watford.
