A glimpse into the past of a property occupied by an opticians has been revealed thanks to a sharp-eyed reader.

The Watford Observer reported in March how Watford resident Andy Platt had spotted an old shop sign belonging to Southwood’s greengrocers when workmen were refurbishing the premises that used to be occupied by Domenic’s Café in Vicarage Road.

J. B. Richards Opticians is located close to this property and when Andy was in the precinct this week and saw work being carried out at the front of the business, he noticed another old shop sign for 'Naturewise Health Store'.

We are grateful to Andy for again getting in touch with his latest shop sign discovery which also shows the address of the shop – number 20 – and its five-digit Watford telephone number.
