Four new houses could be built after plans to demolish an “inefficient” £785,000 property were submitted.
The house, in Falconer Road, Bushey, would be replaced with two pairs of semi-detached three bedroom “eco homes” under the proposal submitted to Hertsmere Borough Council on June 29.
A design statement submitted with the plan pitches it as perfect for young families looking to buy a home who are finding it hard to access the Bushey property market.

The statement highlights the council’s Housing Needs Study which said: “Most new homes in Bushey in recent years have been flats.
“These are reasonably popular, however the real demand in the town is for smaller scaled three to four-bedroom houses, semi-detached or terraced.”
Each home would have three bedrooms and dedicated parking.
Describing the existing house, built in the 1970s, the plan said: “The infrastructure and fabric of the building are becoming unfit for purpose for the 21st Century and reaching the end of its serviceable life.
“The property is expensive to heat and requires constant maintenance work.”
According to Zoopla, the property was last sold in January, for £785,000.
The plan is only "in principle" at this stage and seeks to assess the idea against national and local planning policy.
