Work has completed to alter a grass verge that has been described as “dangerous” when the poor weather sets in.
Grasscrete was laid on two sections in Oxhey Drive, South Oxhey, after residents complained that mud would spill onto the footpath when cars parked their cars on it.
Councillor Christopher Alley, who paid for the £13,000 work out of his Highways Locality Budget, said: “Whenever the weather turns bad, such as in the autumn, it turns into a quagmire of mud, it is unsightly.”
It has been two weeks since the work was completed and “people have welcomed the change and are happy about it,” Cllr Alley said.

The verge was resurfaced with Grasscrete, which offers a concrete surface for cars to park on and allows grass to grow through holes.
Cllr Alley said he wanted to keep the grass, but people who live on the road “need to park their cars”.
He plans to have other sections of the grass verges in the road changed later in the year.
